About the Author

Every story begins somewhere – mine usually starts with muddy paws, a wagging tail, and a question: What does it mean to be kind, brave, and true to ourselves?

Writing for children lets me explore this with wonder and warmth, one tale at a time.

Understanding Little Hearts

Before I began writing for children, I earned a degree in psychology and spent years exploring how young minds grow, imagine, and make sense of their world.

I’ve always been captivated by the intricate tangle of children’s thoughts and emotions – how joy and curiosity intertwine with sadness and worry as children try to understand life’s ups and downs.

My background in psychology quietly shapes everything I write, helping me tell stories that comfort, uplift, and bring children and grown-ups a little closer together. Through the eyes of one of my greatest teachers – the dog – I explore the big feelings that live in small hearts: self-doubt, jealousy, loneliness, kindness, bravery, forgiveness, and joy.

Where Stories Begin

Each of my stories begins with a dog because I believe dogs see the world with a simplicity that’s profoundly wise. They teach us patience, loyalty, courage, and the pure delight of a muddy puddle or a tasty treat. They don’t ask us to be perfect, only to be present. I try to capture that same spirit on every page, inviting children to explore life’s challenges and triumphs with open hearts, giggles and hope.

Life In Surrey

At home in Surrey, I share life with my husband, Guy, and our three dogs: Cookie, Nessie, and Kobe. They are my constant companions and my unofficial editorial team. Cookie is the mischief maker, Nessie the gentle soul, and Kobe the fearless explorer. Between chasing squirrels, barking at delivery vans, and occasionally stealing my socks, they fill my days with chaos, laughter, and endless inspiration.

Finding Inspiration Outdoors

When I am not writing or researching, you will likely find me outside, playing fetch in the garden, wandering the winding trails of the Surrey countryside, or watching my dogs sniff every leaf as if it is their first great discovery. Nature and movement are part of my creative process. Many of my stories begin as quiet thoughts during long walks, finding their shape once I am home again, pen in hand.

The Heart of My Writing

My greatest joy as a writer is when young readers find a little of themselves, or their pets, in my books. If my stories help a child feel brave, loved, or understood, then I have done my job. I write with the hope that every story leaves behind a smile, a spark of courage, or the warm feeling of a wagging tail at your side.

At the heart of all my stories is a sense of connection between people, animals, and the world we share. They are gentle reminders that kindness is powerful, that bravery can be quiet, and that love often arrives with muddy paws and a happy bark.

A little Wag and Wonder

Thank you for visiting my corner of the world. I hope my stories bring a little wag and wonder to yours – and I’d love to hear which one made you smile. After all, every good story begins with a connection.
